My daughter loves eating popcorn at the movies, so I started looking for a way to make a popcorn bucket for her to wear as a Halloween costume.
I used a garbage can, cut the bottom off, a hole in each side for the arms and a hole in the lid for the head. Used red and white duct tape to create the stripes and hold down the lid. Added real popped corn to the lid using foam insulation then applied spray adhesive over the corn to make certain it was glued down well. Sprayed the corn with clear polyurethane to make it look “buttery”. Added some popcorn labels to make it look like the bucket from the movie theater.
She wore it to casino Halloween party and everyone loved it! It lookded so real, people kept trying to grab the popcorn “out of the bucket”.
I had a ton of fun making this costume, just make sure to be in a well ventilated area when using the glues if you decide to make one. This is a real family safe costume that can be worn to any Halloween party
