My friend and I decided to make matching costumes this year, and after much thought, we came up with the idea for an Emoji costume. We figured most people would recognize it and hopefully get a kick out of it, and boy did they ever!
The only materials you need are:
- Cardboard/poster board.
- Yellow tag board.
- Hot glue.
- Red and brown felt.
- Scissors.
- An xacto knife.
- String.
Step 1. Cut out the yellow tag board and cardboard in the shape of a circle. It can be as big or as small as you want it, depending on who the costume is for. My friend and I used scissors for the tag board and and an xacto knife for the cardboard.
Step 2. Hot glue the tag board to the cardboard-try not to burn yourself!
Step 3. Next, using your felt, cut out the shapes for the emoji’s face. I used brown for the some of the facial features because it was similar to the actual color used on the emojis, but you can use whatever you have available.
Step 4. Hot glue the felt patches in the correct position.
Step 5. Hot glue/tape straps on. I used some sturdy string which managed to do the trick, but elastic works fine as well.
