I decided that I would carry on the family tradition of wearing a Wizard of Oz Wicked Witch Halloween Costume. My grandmother and mother had played the role of Wicked’s Elpheba numerous times throughout the years. I decided to do this at the last minute for costume day at work.
Wicked Witch Halloween Costume Instructions
- I bought green face paint from Walmart, 3 packs of green eyeshadow of various shades, false eyelashes, a witch hat, and a black turtleneck.
- Before starting on my makeup, I pulled my hair back and put the turtleneck on.
- I then layered the green face paint with makeup sponges and made sure each layer dried before I added more. I applied about 3 layers to my face and neck.
- Then, I used a powder brush to apply green eyeshadow over the facepaint to lock in the color and give a multidimensional look.
- I contoured my cheekbones with dark green eyeshadow and blended it in.
- I used darker shades of green eyeshadow for my eyes, and I used a dark liquid liner to line them.
- I used a black eyeliner to line my lips and filled them in with a red lipstick and berry lipgloss.
- I applied the false eyelashes and added mascara.
- I gave myself another sweep of green eyeshadow to lock everything in.
- I kept my hair pulled back, but made sure to cover my ears since I decided not to paint them green.
- I put on my hat, added some black pants and black flats, and I was done!
Everyone asked me how I did my makeup, and I even scared a guy driving by as I crossed the street.
The green eyeshadow definitely made a huge difference for this look. I’ve gotten requests to wear this costume again already. This was probably my favorite and least expensive costume ever –only $12 for makeup and $12 for the turtleneck and witch hat.
