My son’s school decided have a fancy dress day for charity. I had no idea where to start so I got out the nursery rhyme book and asked him to choose what he would like to be. I was hoping for a soldier or something similar that I could just buy from the shop. But no, the request was for Hickory Dickory Dock!
To begin, I asked my husband if he could find me a large cardboard box that would fit over our 4 year old son. The one he brought home was tall enough but way too wide so I measured him up and cut it down to fit him nice and snugly. I then cut out arm holes and a hole for his face. Next I cut out pieces of cardboard for the detailing. I then painted it all and glued it together, adding a mouse.
My son’s teachers were really pleased and even requested to keep the costume in school for a while to put it on display.
I didn’t think I was a creative person at all so I was really pleased with how it turned out!
excellent idea.. what paint you used to colour it?
