Homemade Sugar Skull Dia De Los Muertos Costume

I decided to create a homemade Sugar Skull Dia De Los Muertos costume this year.

Materials I Used for this Sugar Skull Dia De Los Muertos Costume:

• Black lacy bustier
• Purple skater skirt
• Bigger fake flowers in red, purples and pinks
• Small fake flowers (found in the scrapbooking aisle)
• White glittery vines
• Glittery fake flowers
• Rhinestones in red, pink and purple
• Paper skulls (also found is scrapbooking)
• Skull stickers (scrapbooking)
• Fishing line

I started by going to Michaels and grabbing things I liked that I thought would go well together. When I got home, I cut all the flowers off their stems and arranged them on the bustier with the skulls and rhinestones and used a hot glue gun to secure them in place. Then I used fishing line to sew the top and bottom two corners of the skulls onto the skirt (which actually didn’t stay in place very well. I’d recommend hot gluing them. It’ll be faster and they’ll stay better.) Next, I hot glued the rhinestones into the eyes of the skulls, then arranged the flowers on the waistband of the skirt and glued them on as well. I’m normally not a crafty person but this was super easy, just tedious, so give yourself a few days to do it.
