My costume for Halloween was a bunch of grapes! It was very easy to make and easy on my wallet. It was so much fun seeing the reactions of others and receiving many positive comments. I got a lot of laughs, therefore extra candy!
Here is what you will need:
- Purple t-shirt (purchased from Joanne’s for around $3)
- Package of purple balloons (I used about 25-30 balloons)
- Headband
- Green felt (purchased at Joanne’s)
- Safety pins
- Double-sided tape
Here’s how to make it:
1.) Blow up balloons to various sizes and safety pin them to your purple shirt. Make sure you leave minimal space between each balloon so it takes the grapes-still-on-the-vine effect.
2.) Use double sided tape, or regular tape that is rolled to make it sticky on both sides, and stick the balloons to each other. This helps to make them not flail around in the wind as much.
3.) Cut felt into a leaf shape and tape or hot glue it to the headband.
Underneath, I wore black Under Armour to make sure I was warm in the unpredictable Michigan weather. I also paired it with yoga pants and boots.
I suggest wearing your hair in high or low ponytail or bun rather than leaving hair down because the static from the balloons was very irritating throughout the night.
