My son, Chason is 3 1/2 years. He is absolutely obsessed with garbage trucks. He will sit for hours at the computer and watch You Tube videos of garbage trucks driving around neighborhoods and picking up garbage but he especially likes the videos where there is an actual garbage man physically throwing the garbage into the back of the truck. I probably don’t have to tell you how excited he gets when it is garbage day at our house!! I even asked him one day which girl at daycare he wanted to marry when he grew up and he said “Mommy, I don’t want to marry a girl, I want to marry a garbage man”….LOL
When we asked him what he wanted to be for Halloween, he said “a garbage man” so my husband and I thought how cool it would be if we could make him a garbage truck to actually go in.
And this is what we came up with.
- 1 1/2 diaper boxes,
- 2 bendable cutting boards to make the rounded front and back, rope to make the ridges all covered in green and white duct tape.
- Black poster board for the windows and tires affixed to cardboard to make them stronger and white pipe cleaners to make the front grill.
- Black and yellow caution tape for the bottom edge and back of the truck. I even stopped the garbage man one day and asked for some Waste Management paraphanelia and he gave me a toque with the Waste Management logo on it and some stickers.
- A few other little additions, some suspender straps and approximately 8 hours later we have one extremely excited little boy!!
Nice Job!
