My boyfriend and I created a Little Shop of Horrors costume – Audrey and the Dentist! For the Audrey costume, I just bought a leopard print dress from Amazon and used eyeshadow to make it look like I had a black eye. I bought a blonde bob wig online (it was actually a Sia/Lady Gaga wig) and it wasn’t curled like Audrey’s hair. I used a curling iron to curl the wig inwards and then I bobby pinned the curls in place and hair sprayed it. I left the wig like that for about a week and was happy to find that it worked!
For the Dentist costume, we bought a white chef/dentist shirt on Amazon, as well as a dentist gas mask. I made the apron from black vinyl.
Ok now for the fun part! I made the Audrey 2 plant as well. I bought an egg-shaped piece of styrofoam from Michael’s craft store. I cut a wedge out of it for the mouth. Then I covered it with newspaper and glue (paper mache). I used hot glue to make the lips and add details. Then I painted the whole thing white. Then I went in with other colors. I used acrylic paint. I started with the lighter colors first and then went darker. I used red on the lips, then yellow, green, and purple towards the back. I used thin plastic cut into triangles to make the teeth. I bought a Maxwell’s coffee tin on ebay and put more styrofoam in the bottom of the tin. I stuck the head on a skewer and placed it in the styrofoam base. Then I used different kinds of fake leafs to make it look like the plant had arms and was coming alive!
This was such a fun Little Shop of Horrors costume to make and everyone loved it!
