Authentic Handmade Sally Costume

My mom made this Sally costume using hand-dyed colored burlap from Fabric on a Whim.  She hand-cut the patches, sewed them on and used black thread to stitch it to an old dress I had that was kind of stretchy.  She used dark purple and brown Sharpie brush tip markers to draw patterns on the fabric.  The tights and hand warmers were store bought.

I didn’t wear this full make-up to school because I thought it would scare the pre-school kids in my Child Study class–LOL!–so I opted for the toned-down version and actually thought it made Sally look kind of pretty!;)  But the photo shoot was spooky and fun.  I felt that my look was really true to the character of Sally from “A Nightmare Before Christmas.”  I got a ton of compliments on it!

  1. I absolutely love this dress. If you still have it, would you be willing to sell it or have her make one for me? I’ll pay accordingly!
