Original DIY Star Wars Costume: Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder

My eight year old daughter is a big Star Wars fan so this year I made her a landspeeder costume.  The vehicle is from Episode 4:  A New Hope and is the vehicle Luke Skywalker has on Tatooine.  My daughter’s wearing a Karate gee and thick brown belt to duplicate his shirt and a pair of high boots.  The speeder body is made out of foam, hand carved and shaped.  The engines are made from cardboard concrete shaping tubes, capped with foam and shaped.  The speeder uses a PVC frame and suspenders to allow her to walk in it smoothly.  A ridge was also carved into the bottom so that it can be placed on top of wagon with her sitting in it to make it look like it hovers.

I hope you enjoy it. Happy Halloween, and may the force be with you!
