This year I decided to create my very own mermaid costume. It was totally worth it and super fun to work on. The hardest and funniest part was walking in the fin! I pinned a sparkly green sheet of fabric tight around me and made my fin out of painted green cardboard (the floppy fin also took time get used to walk in) I bought a cheap bra and strapped two giant shells on with fabric wires (which were suppose to pose as seaweed) and scattered sand around the rest.
I wore a wig for a better effect, pinned seashells in it and even picked up some dried out seaweed to look like I had really just came from the sea. I ended up on NYC that night,expecting a huge competition. To my surprise I actually won the “most creative” part of the costume contest! In the end, the struggle to walk was completely worth it.
