I bought a white seashell bra, a green ruffle bottom angled skirt, and after several stores a bright red wig. The wig was the hardest part to find since it needed to be long, have the right kind of bangs, and be the perfect shade of red! The wig was also the most expensive part of the costume. I painted the seashell bra a funky shade of purple that looked more mauve than purple!
I had to go back and buy a better purple spray paint and try’er again! This time my seashells came out the perfect shade of purple! I added a glitter topcoat and finished it off with purple rhinestones for extra pizazz! Everyone loved my costume and recognized me from a mile away! Shawn White, ya know the red headed dude who is kind of good at snowboarding ( OK he’s an Olympic gold medalist whatever!) also donned a mermaid costume that same year. He might have worn it better but I’ll let you be the judge!
