Cruella was the most fun character to play for the night! I wanted a glamorous, sexy Cruella de Vil costume that matched the Disney look perfectly and I knew as soon as I found the coat it was made for this look.
Creating the Sexy Cruella de Vil Costume
I trawled a few charity shops and vintage shops and came across the fur. Slightly over-sized to give the fluffy look she has. The dress was a simple cheap plunge jersey bodycon from Missguided. It hugged every curve and had the perfect length against the coat. I tried a few shorter styles but you need the calf length skirt to get true Cruella vibes.
I was originally going to spray paint my hair black and white as I find wigs too itchy and ridiculous, but at last minute decided it was necessary to achieve the right colour and not damage my hair! The wig is by Leg Avenue and I brushed it out a little to smooth, and pinned one side down to keep it out of my face. This made the costume and I’m so glad I went with this choice, I looked a little ridiculous but still sexy and confident.
Accessories
The accessories were all from Amazon, the cigarette holder was perfection and I could actually smoke a cigarette through it! The gloves were cheap and didn’t fit quite right but were ideal for Cruella’s look. Although I had to take one off most of the time to use my iPhone. I had a cheap costume jewelry ring and green pearl style earrings, also Amazon. The shoes were cheap from Deichman and I felt the pain from them after an hour or so! I popped some plasters on under my stocking hold ups and I was sorted.
Make-up
I kept makeup simple with green eye shadow and red lipstick and a bit of blush, I definitely could have had more dramatic eye makeup though if I’d more time. Also, I toyed with the idea of having a basket of blood spattered dalmatian fur but I had far too many props already!
I got great reactions for my costume, an iconic look that everyone instantly recognized. And I kept up the character with a few quotes from the movie.
“My only true love, darling. I live for furs. I worship furs! After all, is there a woman in all this wretched world who doesn’t?”
Sexy Cruella de Vil Costume Reactions
On the whole it was a great costume, however very sweaty and a lot of maintenance for the whole night. I’m glad I was just in my own flat for the party as going out into town would have been a trauma! Would definitely use this again and I’ll be using the fur as my winter coat – it’s so cozy!
