Sharknado Costume Preschool Style

My 4 year old son told me last Spring that he wanted to be a Sharknado for Halloween (after he saw Sharknado 2).  I laughed it off, but as fall got closer, he wouldn’t let up and I knew I had to figure it out.

I made one that fell apart in minutes at the parade the week before Halloween. I had made it using an idea I came up with in my head and it just didn’t work for my rambunctious 4 year old. I had 5 days to make my sons dream of being a Sharknado come true.

I used a tutorial for an adult costume that my husband found online and started working on how to make it fit my preschooler.  I used a tomato cage, wire cutters, plastic wrap, duct tape, spray glue, cotton rolls and gray spray paint. Finding sharks was hard so I cut them out of cloth and glued them On. All-in-all the whole thing came out better than I could have ever imagined. My son was ecstatic about it and people loved it. He was thrilled when he received extra candy for being the “coolest” costume at more than one house and people were actually stopping to ask if they could take a picture.

We all just cracked up the entire night watching him waddle up to the houses. And the best may have been when he had to reach down to pick up candy in a bowl…. It was tough for him but entertaining for us! I am not sure I will ever be able to too this costume!!! I am also proud that it made it through freezing rain too!
