Here’s a really unique costume idea – King Kong!
LADIES & GENTLEMEN…LOOK UP IN THE SKY…IT’S A BIRD, IT’S A PLANE (well okay there is a plane) IT’S SUPERMAN, NOOOOOO…
It’s King Kong climbing the Empire State Building! And uh-oh he is holding someone in his hand! Is it Barbie, noooo? Is it Naomi Watts? noooo…It’s ANN DARROW the damsel in distress! We hope that you enjoy this unique costume ideas we crafted featuring our own little Jake as King Kong.
This unique costume idea was created by using a rather large box and spray paint, both which we had on hand! We sprayed the entire box hammered silver and then cut a template of lots & lots of windows out of plain typing paper. We then laid them onto our spray painted box and sprayed the windows in black leaving nice crisp edges. We repeated this process a zillion times.
We used a miniature flying plane that we had and attached it to our building using floral wire. We cut a hole on the backside big enough for Jake to fit through.
Using a pre-created King Kong outfit picked up at a garage sale, Jake fitted the top of King Kong onto his own body and the bottom half of King Kong was stuffed with Fiber Fill purchased at the local craft store and Velcrod onto the box using Industrial Strength Velcro also purchased at the craft store.
Mask gloves and our version of Ann Darrow, the original damsel of distress and Jake’s costume is ready, light-weight and fun to wear! Using lots of supplies we have around the house and buying items when you can find them dirt cheap (like our King Kong outfit at a garage sale in May) definitely pays off!
A unique costume idea doesn’t have to be expensive to be cool.
