This was honestly one of our easiest costumes to date. We used a backpack with a large piece of cardboard inside it for the body/shoulder frame. The dress, sweater, hat, and earrings were purchased at a local thrift store. We bought them a few sizes too big.
To make the arms appear proportionate, we cut holes in the sides of the dress, the pocket in the sweater, and the cuff of the sweater sleeves. We stitched them all together so she could put her arms through them, and they would come out of the bottom of the sleeves. We stuffed the upper parts of the sleeves with grocery bags so they would look more realistic.
Completing the Illusion
The black area for her face was covered using four layers of black mesh material that we had at home. She could easily see and breathe while we were out, but because it was dark, you could not see her face unless she was near a light.
