Here’s my 9-year-old daughter and her little Beth Harmon costume from The Queen’s Gambit. We were able to repurpose her dress from last year’s Wednesday Addams’ costume, so this was definitely a budget-friendly costume.
The most difficult part was her very long hair that needed to be meticulously curled and pinned and the winged eyeliner, mascara, eyelash curling, lipstick and blush that she was pretty squirmy for.
It was my first time doing a moderate amount of makeup application on her and it wasn’t easy. She always does a great job capturing the character and this year was no different — she really nailed Anya Taylor-Joy’s intensity. Her Beth Harmon costume makes me laugh whenever I look at the pictures.
