We’re brothers and we went as the sun and the moon this year! We always try to go above and beyond on Halloween and this year was no exception! This was definitely our most ambitious costume to date as these took over a month to construct.
The sun and moon heads are made from cardboard and paper mache. We drew inspiration from vintage illustration and French porcelain dolls. Making them involved using traditional paper mache construction techniques often used in large scale puppetry making.
The outfits were curated mostly from items we found while thrifting and shopping at our local vintage boutiques. We are quite tall so it was pretty funny walking around as a seven foot tall sun and moon on Halloween. We felt like we were characters in a theme park or something!
We think these costumes are a testament to how much you can do with a little bit of creativity and hard work!
